Visit the center of the Island of Isola.

Masked heathens that need to be shown the light. Mysterious heathen Totems to be dismantled. You can go into the Detail screen. Whichever person you are on when you click done will be the person selected.

Detail Screen Details: - Your Detail screen is usefully in several ways. Skills: - One goal of the game is to get your villagers to be masters at the skills, which means to fill the blue bars.

It does not seem to make them improve at a skill any faster, but it will have them persist at that skill longer and more frequently. Farming: Basically this is food collection. Be sure to have at least one person collecting food.

If you get below food, have more farming people checked as your villagers will start to worry about food. I check either this box or Research for my little ones too, so that when they turn 14 they "might" start working. Building: Besides building structures, building skills will increase with dismantling totems, working on the statue, and doing repairs.

Concentrate on getting one master builder at first and then work on getting a second one. All building will go better if you have Master Builders, plus absolutely need at least two later see walkthrough. You might also want to consider using males to become Master Builders because you may find your female nursing a baby when you need it. Research: To gain points you must do research in the lab. This is a skill that you need lots of your people to stick with.

You need lots and lots of Tech points and this is the only way to get them. You also need at least one Master Scientist for some of the puzzles. Healing: Increase your healing power by healing sick villagers and studying at the "hospital.

You can also tell stories and teach at the nursery school. Devotion: Increase Devotion skills by trying to convert the blue masked heathens. Also one can honor at the statue. Item Collection: - You will need to collect mushrooms, relics, and lab items. As you play, you will discover just how far away a heathen needs to be before your tribe gets scared. As soon as you find something to pick up, press the space bar to pause the game.

As long as you drop the next child as the first is picking up the item you will double or triple your input. This is especially useful in the beginning of the game to maximize food when mushrooms are your only food source and later when you are trying to build up your energy as each duplicate relic gives you 10 energy points. Just wait for the first to squat down and as he does so, drop your next child.

Personally I played the first time through to almost the end before I figured out how to do this; so it really isn't that necessary if you can't quite handle it. Heathens: Blue masks: These are the ones you can convert.

Send the person you have chosen to be the first devotee to ramp up its skills quickly to any blue mask that doesn't have a light flashing over its head. Eventually the Faith meter will go past the center and you will get one to convert to your tribe.

Blue masks are completely harmless. However, there are times when they will get in your way; when that happens you can just keep trying to convert them and they will get annoyed and walk away. Purple masks: These are harmless also. These are heathens who are attached to a puzzle of some sort. Once you solve their puzzle, they will join you.

Orange masks: These are the ones who will chase you. If you are carrying something or doing a task, you will drop what you are doing and run away. Learning d. Construction e. Food Mastery f. Spirituality 2. God Powers a.

If you're that stupid, it's your own damn fault. Got that? Now, let's move on to the fun stuff I've been a fan of the Virtual Villagers games since I started playing them more than a year ago, and after completing three of the first four games and craving a new escape from responsibility, I decided to give the fifth one a try. While still holding true to the puzzle simulation roots of the series, New Believers introduces heathens and divine powers to the mix, drawing more emphasis to the simulation elements of the game and giving players more active control over the events on the island.

There are quite a few secrets to discover as your tribe learns more about the origins and motives of Isola's heathens, and uncovering them is one of the most fun parts of the game.

I encourage you to experiment and try to figure things out on your own before looking up a solution, but if you're at a complete loss to destroy a totem, convert a heathen, or solve one of the many puzzles of the island, I hope that this FAQ will provide the answers you seek. The Interface As with any simulation game, it's important to know how to read and navigate the menus. Below is a list of all the terms and buttons you'll see on the screen, starting at the top left and ending at the bottom right.

Population The number of villagers - men, women, children, and infants - who belong to your tribe. Directly affects your energy. The population caps at 10 with no housing huts, 20 with one hut, 35 with two huts, and 90 with all three. In addition, each collection you complete increases the population cap by 5. Food The comestibles available to your villagers. A larger food supply allows you to sustain a larger population.

Tech Points The number of points available to upgrade your technologies. Your villagers can accumulate tech points by working in the laboratory or collecting scientific equipment. Once you build the clothing hut, you can also spend tech points to change your villagers' clothes. Energy The available fuel for your God Powers. A larger population will provide you with more maximum energy and a higher rate of energy generation.

In addition, each new relic your villagers find will add 3 to your maximum energy. Map Displays an overview map of the area. You can click anywhere to zoom in. Collections Displays the collectibles and necklace pieces your villagers have found. Tech A list of the technologies available to your tribe and the divine powers available to you. Technologies These all start at Level 1 and can be upgraded twice. Science Increases the rate at which your researchers accumulate tech points.

At Level 2, your villagers will be able to build a clothing hut. Though expensive, this technology is worth getting early if you want to maximize the returns on your Scientists' time. Level 2: points Level 3: 70, points b. Medicine Decreases the likelihood that your villagers will fall ill and increases their fertility rates and lifespans. Level 2: points Level 3: 50, points c. Learning Increases the rate at which your villagers learn new skills.

At Level 3, your villagers will be able to build a nursery school where adults can teach their skills to children. Level 2: points Level 3: 35, points d. Construction Enables your villagers to build more complex structures. Each level allows your villagers to construct another housing hut, increasing the maximum population of your village. Level 2: points Level 3: 65, points e. Food Mastery Increases the amount of food your villagers can harvest.

Level 2: points Level 3: 40, points f. Spirituality Increases your maximum energy and allows your villagers to make additional modifications to the statue. Level 2: points Level 3: 80, points 2. God Powers These will become available to you as your maximum energy increases. Spawn Butterflies Summons butterflies wherever you click. All of the children on the map will be drawn toward them and play with them until they fly away. Aggressive heathen children will be too distracted to chase your villagers.

Consumes 10 energy. Swarm of Bees Summons a swarm of bees in the target area. The swarm will linger for a few seconds, stinging any islanders who walk into it and making them run around in pain.

Aggressive heathens won't chase your villagers while being stung by the bees. The bees can also be used to pollinate the noni patch, adding 20 to its supply of fruit. Consumes 25 energy.

Sunshine Clears the sky and covers the map in daylight. Consumes 50 energy. Red Mask Heathens are senior guards and scare off villagers. The Red ones mostly guard Totems and other important areas. The Red and Orange Heathens can only be eventually converted by using Earthquake spells. When you cast an Earthquake, lights will appear over their heads. Purple Mask Heathens can only be converted by words and solving puzzles 1, 5, 9 and The last of the Heathens is The Chief.

The Chief can be converted by solving Puzzle You can check off each part of this Virtual Villagers 5 walkthrough and make sure you convert all Heathens as quickly as possible. As mentioned in the first paragraph, a good selection of villagers right from the start is the best way to quickly get you going. The best mix of villagers is as follows, of course keeping the suggestions in the first paragraph in mind especially regarding likes and dislikes :.

When the game starts, drop every adult villager on the fence to start tearing it down and building a food bin. Once the fence is down, drop the villagers on the Knowing Totem in area 7, just below the hot springs. Of course use butterflies and bees to keep the hostile and scary Heathens away. Make sure to drop some builders on it and just keep on improving it.

The main objective at this first stage of the Virtual Villagers 5 walkthrough is getting a steady supply of food for your villagers. Use the Swarm of Bees spell to drive away the heathens and drop all of your adult villagers on the Hungry Totem.

Right after that you can start to build the love shack and send some villagers to the west bank of the river to gather dry grass and wood from the woodpile. The Knowing Totem in area 7 is the second one to take down. Drive the red and orange heathens off with the Lightning Strike spell and destroy the totem.

The board is situated on the left of the research facility. In order to repair the broken aqueduct in area 8 you need a Master Scientist. Just drop him on the broken aqueduct and he will supervise the repairs.

Next you need at least one builder preferably a few and drop them on the aqueduct as well. The repair of the broken aqueduct will convert the Master Farmer Heathen and will give you another piece of the necklace. Next you need to build some more houses and make a few babies. Breaking down the Pain Totem is fairly easy. Just use your Lightning Strike spell a few times to stun it. Do pay attention, because using the Lightning Strike once might not be enough.

After demolishing the Pain Totem, upgrade your technologies to level 2 and complete the second modification of the statue. Once the clothing hut is completed, three pots of dye will appear near the farm.

The villagers will then carry the dye to the hot springs and pour them in. This will drive away the heathens and you can start destroying the Rainbow Totem. If the water starts to run clear, just drop 2 villagers on the dye again and carry on destroying. Before taking apart the Blocking Totem, start the building contest first in order to convert the Heathen Master Builder.

Use your most experienced builder and use the Time Warp spell on him.
